Below are listed the situations a tenant and their family may find themselves in, with a list of the benefits they may be able to claim. Click on the benefit for more information about who can claim it.

Note that if the tenant falls into two or more categories such as a student with a child, then you should consider the benefits in both lists. The lists are not exhaustive but detail the more common benefits.

Note that from 27th October 2008 new claimants have been claiming Employment Support Allowance instead of Incapacity Benefit or Income Support on grounds of incapacity for work. Current claimants are beinf re-assessed for possible transfer to ESA from 2010-2014.
